Hello,
I have been using SQL Server 2000 for the past 6 months. I am basically a VB.NET developer.
I want to learn about the internal workings, architecture and how the data is stored in sql server. Can anybody suggest me some books?
Thanks
Imran

The resources Frank recommended (in reverse order, I would say) are the ones to go to for understanding internals, which is what you asked for. However, if you are an application developer that have been given the task of working with databases I would definitely recommend reading something regarding data management fundamentals, over understanding SQL Server internals. An Introduction to Database Systems by CJ Date is absolutely the best one you can read.

Frank has a great list, if you look at the large, 600 page SQL Server 2000 books, any of them will do. They're all about the same.
