SQL server binaries

  • Hi,

Can you please tell me any reason to seperate SQL server binaries from OS files?  In what way we benefit out of this? When should we consider this kind of a setup

Sorry if it is a stupid Q

  • I can't think of any reason to separate them.  The SQL Server binaries are installed on the C: drive of all our servers along with the OS files.  The databases, indexes logs and backups are all stored separately but I've not seen a need to keep the SQL binaries separate.

  • Hi Francis,

then I assume they are on seperate logical drives which are existing on the same physical array. In one of our production setup I saw this configuration. Just to clarify.

    Thank u
