SQL server back up

    Based on your scenario, it will be good for you to try any 3rd party tool.

    We have really good experience with SqlBak it works stable since we have started using it. This tool allows you to create all kind backups according to a specified schedule and restore them if it is needed.

    This is a seven year old thread. I strongly suspect the original poster has already answered this question.

  • We utilize LightSpeed and SQL Server Native Backups. 

    We used LS for the now out of support SQL/Server 2005 systems as well as SQL 2008 (before MS added backup compression to all versions for free).  I have used the LS extractor.exe utility to convert LS backups to a SQL Native backups for vendors and systems that did not have LS installed. 

    We don't use maintenance plans as we use scripts for DB backups.
