SQL Server Agent Warning

  • Hi

I'm getting a strange sql server agent warning in my servers event log (not in the sql server log). Its occurring after each agent job runs and says:

"Unable to determine if the owner (sa) of job Trans Backup has server access (reason: Unable to connect to server - check SQL Server and SQL Agent errorlogs)."

I have checked the errorlogs - nothing.

My job completes OK, but I get this warning.

    I'm running SQL Server 2000 SP2.

    I'm running in a cluster.

The problem has only occurred since a reboot yesterday.

    Any Ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

    Andy

  • For the two issues you entered today, I can assume that both have to do with SQL Agent not being able to restart properly after reboot.

The error in this one and the icon issue with the agent, I will stop and restart SQL Server, can you do it at this time? If this does not solve the problem, you will propably need to rest the permission for the Agent (se BOL to set these up) Good luck.

  • I think they're unrelated as this icon appears on more than one server - not all servers though, sometimes I get the usual green arrow in a circle.

I can't stop and start the servers right now, but as soon as I can, I will check things out.
