Hi,
For some reason SQL Server Agent keeps stopping itself. Does anyone know how to stop it from stopping itself? This does not happen every day, just at what appear to be irregular intervals. The error log states that the service stopped unexpectedly. Not a lot of help.
TIA

Do you bounce the sql server or the agent daily? Check if the SQL agent is set to start automatically. Also make sure that you check the box to start the sql agent automatically when the OS starts.

We have a similar problem a long time a go, but it was related to the mail profile. Do you have a problem with that?

Thanks, the mail profile looks OK, we are only using the email when the job completes without error. I have now set the SQL agent to start up again automatically on failure. Still not sure why it's failing in the first place though? Although a new message in the event log now says the TSQL subsystem is failing. Sounds a bit worrying!

The SQL Agent is now staying up(or comming back up), but all the jobs fail.
