Tried to open the SQLAGENT log file, but throws an error as being used by another process..

Did you try rebooting the system? Because normally you should be able to open this file always even if SQL Server Agent is started. if you have not rebooted it once, try to reboot in off peak hours if possible 😉

I think this could be one of the reason that you are not able to start the sql server agent. Because every timne SQL Server agent starts it writes the entries in this file. Now if this file is being used by some other process which is not leting the sql server agent to use it for writing, SQL server agent may fail to start. Think so....:cool:

I have a similar problem on 1 of the servers i check ... any updates on your issue?
