sql server agent error

    Hi All,

    The sql server Agent(MSSQLSERVER) service on local computer started and stopped.Some services automatically stop

    if they have no work to do,eg the performance logs and alerts service.

    Im getting above error while starting the sql server agent let me know what is the solution for this

    any messages in the sqlagent errorlog or eventvwr?

    it is showing server is in single user mode

    server is usually only started in single user mode to restore the master database, are you doing that currently?

    I had a similar experience yesterday and found this SSC thread very helpful: Agent XPs automagically being disabled

    While configuring a new cluster, on one of the nodes I needed to update the path to the sqlagentlog in the registry and run "sp_config 'agent xps' , 1". Then I was golden.
