SQL server agent doesnt start

  • SQLAli (8/28/2013)

We can find out the issue by following below steps.

    1) Check the error log.

    2) We can see few errors in SQLAgent.out

    3) Check whether Agent XP is enabled or not:-P

    4) Find the events belongs SQL Agent in event viewer

    5) Cross verify the configured Account and it's password.

    7) Cross verify whether SQL Server DB Engine service is properly started and you are able to connect the SQL Server.:-P

i have checked these all, i couldnt find the exact error and where to work on that.

The account id and password are correct (reconfirmed from manager)

    6) It is also better to check the lock pages in memory

    Sorry how to check this..????

  • So Agent was running until someone shut down Windows, and since then it does not start. And it does not come as far as writing SQLAGENT.OUT.

Have you check Windows Event Log if there is any clue? (There rarely is, but...)

Please confirm that you used SQL Server Configuration Manager to set the service account.

  • Is there a Domain Policy in effect that stops an account from running as a service.

Is the folder (WINDOWS FOLDER for SQL agent) accessible by the account running the service?

Can you log into the server as the account and try and physically drill down to the windows folder.

No there is no such policy any way the account is member of domain admin

Yes the account is having access

  • Since we don't have access to your system and have to rely to what you tell us, I think our odds to sort this out are slim. Most likely, something is not what you are telling us, but what we don't know.

I would strongly recommend that you open a case with Microsoft to sort this out.

Any ideas can be further posted...

I would try to post the solution as soon as i find it
