my sql server agent is not starting ..i have sql server r2 2008 RTM version...it is runnin under local system account and i have admin privilages but still it is not starting..can anyone help me on this????

check the Windows application event log for messages

Please Go and Check the
SQLSERVER Configuration Tools-->Configuration Manager
-->SQL SERVER Services
It will lists all the SQLServices like Integration Service,Analysis Service,SQL Reporting Service Similar that
SQLSERVER Agent(yourSQLInstance) Service is present. Right click the Service and Start It.

Have you checked the sqlagent.OUT file? That will tell you why it's failing. If the file doesn't exist, or the date on it is older than the last time you attempted to start the service, chances are that an invalid location is specified.

in output file it is mentioned like we don't have sufficient permissions to start the agent
