2016's not even released yet. Certification info won't be released before the product is.

I'm planning do sql server certification very soon.

I thought if the sql server 2016 certification is going to release soon then we can wait for its update instead of preparing for 2012 certification. Anyway,it will get outdated when 2016 certifications are released !!!

Please share your thoughts if I'm wrong !!!

I'm pretty excited about SQL Server 2016 since the client just updated to 2014 6 months ago. Nonetheless I've heard a rumour that after 2016, you won't have any version specific certification of SQL Server. It will just be "SQL Server certification" with a mandatory certification renewal every x years in order to demonstrate understanding of the latest features. I hope that this rumour is wrong and they keep it the old school way.

It's been that way for around 4 years now, ever since the 2012 certifications.

I don't people we care more about the version of sql server certification that you have. When I started my certification journey sql sever 2012 was out. By the time I finished, sql 2014 was released. Microsoft updated my transcript to reflect that I knew both. I think you should still start the journey.

It looks like exam 761 for SQL 2016 is still in development according to this link:

However, Larry Kaye says the following at this link: https://borntolearn.mslearn.net/b/weblog/posts/certification-update-sql-2016

"MOC courses corresponding to all six SQL 2016 exams are currently available, while practice tests will be available shortly after each exam beta period ends."

I scoured Amazon and the internet, I don't find an actual book related to the exam. Am I missing something obvious?
