Hello,
Using the msdn subscription, we have downloaded the enterprise edition of sql server 2014.
Is this download the production or the development licenced server? I mean are we now allowed to install it onto our production sql server machine?

I guess that's the development edition, unless you specify another license number during set-up.

Unless you've paid over US$10,000 for a licence, you cannot use it as Enterprise on a production server.

No. MSDN has one key word in it. Developer. Your SQL Server licenses and your development licenses are different. You can set up Enterprise instances for testing and development and experimentation at no cost based on your MSDN license. But they cannot support production environments.

Some of the downloads don't even let you enter a product key, but as Grant mentioned, it's for development.

Express, Standard, Enterprise for production.
