Hi Experts,
We have 2 node sql 2012 cluster and we have a scenario where domain,IPs,Hostanmes and SQL network name are changing.
What are your suggestions on this:-
1> Can SQL cluster role be brought online by changing the sql network name and its IP once windows team reconfigure the OS cluster or there will be any challenges.
2>should I uninstall sql cluster on both nodes then windows will destroy OS cluster and they then they need to change IP,hostname and domain and then fresh installation of sql cluster
Has anyone come across such scenario. Please share your experience.
Regards.

Hi Experts,We have 2 node sql 2012 cluster and we have a scenario where domain,IPs,Hostanmes and SQL network name are changing.
if you intend to change the hostname for a cluster node it will first need to be removed from the cluster, i would also change the host IP at the same time if it were necessary.
Changing the SQL Server clustered instance network name and IP can be done easily with no issue.

To change the clustered instance network name and IP just go into cluster manager and locate the resources. On the properties tab for each resource change the value to the required new value. Take the group offline and then online.

Just take each node out of the cluster one at a time and perform the host changes. Re join to the cluster and re install the instance, then move onto the next node. No need to destroy the whole cluster, unless of course you have a real burning desire to do so :hehe:
