The last service pack for 2008 was 4 - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=44278
And if you want to know when support expires for SQl Server versions - https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/lifecycle?C2=1044

A very useful link. As is this one, that contains a list of all releases with a handy table at the top giving versions for service packs... http://sqlserverbuilds.blogspot.co.uk/

Thanks guys for the response . Appreciate it
Apparently Service Pack 3 is the latest SP in SQL server 2008 if my understanding is correct !
Now I am thinking either to upgrade to SQL 2016 or 2014 .. If I upgrade production servers to 2016 I am concern about some bugs that might come out later as it is new product .
So it seems SQL 2014 is safer option
What do you think ?

No.
SQL Server 2008 goes to SP4; SQL Server 2008 R2 goes to SP3.

I think you need to test your internal applications against both, and see what any third party software suppliers say they will support.
