SQL server 2008 upgrade

    I'm looking to do an upgrade of SQL server 2000 SP1 to SQL server 2008 but in some documentation it seems to say you need to be on SQL server 2000 SP4 before doing the upgrade. Has anyone else come across this?

    Yes. You will need to apply SP4 before upgrading. If possible try and get new hardware and do a side by side upgrade.

    Yes, but only if it is inplace upgrade.

    thanks, side by side sounds like a better option then
