SQL Server 2008 reboot on attempted password change

    All-

    An off the wall problem, I know, but on a healthy SQL 2008 installation when I attempt to change the SA password either graphically or with a

    t-SQL statement the machine thinks about it for about 20 seconds and then the server spontaneously reboots.

    A strange problem but one I need to fix.

    Never seen this.

    Can you disable sa and see what that does?
