SQL Server 2008 R2 slow after a week

  • Hi all,

I have a SQL 2008R2 server with several databases attending different systems and applications, including a small Totvs ERP, a Websense Server, etc.

The server runs fine for 5 days then starts to get slow and as time passes, slower and slower until eventually it stop answering the ERP applications.

What could be happening and where should I look?

Hardware resources looks fine....memory, disk, network...

    Any help is apprecited.

  • There's simply not enough information...

What exactly do you mean by "getting slow"?

You'll need to figure out if there are specific queries getting slower and where those queries get the data from.

It might be an issue of the response time of the "different systems", a grow of data volume,...

You could start with looking at the standard reports at the instance level (e.g. MemoryConsumption or the performance metrics).

  • Could you also please provide some information on the maintenance task you are executing on the Server? Thanks in advance!
