Does anyone happen to know how to get a hold of sql server 2008 r2 managment studio? i only have it on my work computer and would like to be able to put it on my laptop so that i am able to play around with it in my free time at school or home. (you know just in case i get REALLY bored :-D)
OR if someone has another suggestion for a program to use that is similar i would appreciate it.
Also along with that i would need some decent "learning" databases.
Just for information sake i have a MacBook pro and run VM fusion so i can run windows XP, 7 and another Virtual Machine.
I was planing on using the win7 VM to run the SQL server if possible.
ANY HELP WOULD BE AWSOME

Just Management Studio? Or the SQL Server database engine as well?

If its only Management Studio, I think you can install it from Installation DVD. Dunno whether any special license required.
If you need the Database engine as well, then I advice you to go for single Developer license which will cost around US$ 40. This enable you to use all features of Enterprise version for development works.

If you want to play, and will not need to have databases larger than 10GB, then SQL Express may serve you well. It's free and includes Management Studio:

Try downloading and installing Microsoft® SQL Server 2008 R2 Evaluation
