sql server 2008 installation - common errors ....

    While installing the sql server enterprise edition ,

    I am receiving the error message while specifying the location for the shared feature directory ....

    The error message says :

    [Error Message]

    The INSTANCESHAREDWOWDIR command line value is not valid. Please ensure the specified path is valid and different than the INSTANCESHAREDDIR path.

    Please guide .

    Is SQL Server 2005 installed on the server? Please have a look at the following thread, it may be what you need.

    this is a 'feature' (bug) of the install gui. Either accept the defaults (no harm in doing that) or install from the command line specifying the values you want for these directories.
