SQL Server 2008 Install Error during New SQL Server Stand-Alone Installation...

  • Hello,

I am encountering undisplayed errors for a SQL Server 2008 install during the "New SQL Server Stand-Alone Installation"

When I review the "SqlSupport_Cpu64_1_ComponentUpdate.log" and "Summary_Sydney_20120521_002241_ComponentUpdate.log" as attached, I don't know why it's failing.

I look forward to anybody's insight.

    Thanks,

    Paul

  • My account is the only local administer, and I was attempting to install with Windows Authentication.

  • I'va attempted it again, and it errors/closes on this message: "Scanning and normalizing SQL Server registry key permissions."

I hope some one can assist me in resolving it.

  • have u tried to right click the setup.exe file and run as admin.

Are u installing on window 7 , do u have a firewall or antivirus enabled ?

I just tried "run as administrator" and the same error message appeared very briefly.

Installing on Windows 7 Ultimate, firewall disabled, and antivirus enabled.

  • try disabling the anit virus , u might have window file protection enabled. if this doesnt fix the issue then probably the bootstrap file is corrupt . Try running the setup files directly from \x64\setup

I disabled AV, and same issue persists.

What file do I look for to run under \x64 setup? One of the .msi file types?

    Thanks,

    Paul
