Vadym,
Sorry to ask you the obvious. From Microsoft's site:
Charter memberships are issued to people who earn select certifications in the early days of their release. Charter member status is not necessarily offered for all certifications.
Charter member status is available to candidates who achieve the select certification within six months of the exam's release. In the past, the parameters for eligibility varied, from time period to number of people.
Benefits of charter membership
If you are eligible for a charter member certification, you receive the charter version of the certificate, which includes a platinum border and charter member banner, and the bragging rights of an early achiever. You can order your charter member kit for up to six months after the exam availability date by following the standard certificate ordering process on the Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) Web site; no special registration is required.
But to get the special frame, do you have to specify Charter Member, or does it come automatically, based on your eligibility?

You are not required to do anything from your side except pass the exam as soon as possible. I don't exactly know the rule but it is one of the following
1) first 500 successful candidates become charter members
2) candidates who passed the exam in first half year after release become charter members
thanks, Vadym,

Hey heavymind1,
Thanks for that!
In terms of preparation, it was down to using the SQL Server 2005 experience and combined with review of new SQL Server 2008 features that provided a good grounding, as majority of underlying bits are the same, but new 2K8 features needed understanding. Things like spatial indexing, new data types, shared scalable databases etc..
As long as the grounding SQL Server 2005 exist, I would focus on new features on 2008 to ensure a good result.
I scored 836 on TS part and 756 on Pro part of transition exam.
Thanks,
Phillip Cox

shared scalable databases
Just for your info, scalable shared databases are not a new 2008 feature. 2005 had the capability. It wasn't well knows, I doubt it was used much (if at all)but it was there.

Currently, the Charter Member designation is for passing the exam within 90 days of official release.

I tried the 70-453 and passed the Pro part but not the TS part (got a horrible 550!). Anyway, I will try again soon after studying a little more on the topics covered by the exam... 🙁

Hey GilaMonster,
Sorry, you are correct and my mistake.

Hey Gusbrasil,
You'll be fine and here's to your next pass result!
