SQL Server 2008 Enterprise installation failed Window 7 ultimate

  • Hello Room,

I am running Window 7 Ultimate Edition on DELL Vostro 1500 4 GB Memory.

When I tried to install MS SQL Server Enterprise Developer edition, I run into error: Invoke or BeginInvoke cannot be called on a control until the window handle has been created.

    Can anyone help and advice?

    Thanks,

    TJ

  • It is a UI related bug you can rerun setup or use the support article below to fix it.

  • As Gift Peddie says, this is a known UI bug that should not occur more than once on a given machine. I have not done a SQL 2008 install on W2008 R2 or above that did not have this problem, and because it is expected you know you can just rerun the install when it happens.

If you do not want it to occur at all, you need to build a slipstreamed install media containing SP1 and CU3.

  • IIRC the "best practice" when installing SQL 2008 is to PRE-install SP1, then install RTM, then REinstall SP1 and CUx if you wish. There are a number of issues that can arise from the RTM install by itself depending on configuration.

  • in addition, SQL Enterprise edition is only supported on server operating systems. Windows 7 is a client machine OS.

When I tried to install MS SQL Server Enterprise Developer edition,

This tells me the OP is talking about the developer edition and not the actual Enterprise edtion.

  • Yeah - "Enterprise Developer Edition" is poorly worded.
