Hi,
We are trying to upgrade SQL server 2000 to 2008.
We 've successfully installed SQL server 2008 in server. If I need to manage or work on it from my desktop machine, can I just install Management Studio and all the client tools in my machine and connect to the server.
I don't want to remote desktop each time when I want to do some thing.
With 2000 I have all the client tools like Enterprise manager and Query analyser in my machine and I added the server in the server group. How can I do that with 2008? or what are the options?
My system admin was saying I cannot just install the client tools in my machine and I cannot install 2008 full package in my machine since it doesn't meet the requirements. The software package doesn't have that option.
Please help
thanks

You can certainly just install the client components, just as you could in 2000. Just select the client in the installer dialogue, remove everything else, and you are golden.
