Can you add SP1 ? support.microsoft.com/kb/968369
BTW. your version numbers are incorrect !
They don't publish like 10.00.***
but the results I get are like 10.0.*** (SP1)
(with both
SELECT SERVERPROPERTY('productversion')
select @@VERSION
)
And off course MS did an effort to document their own Build list 😉

The link provided by some one in one of the SQLServerCentral thread is more up to date than the list above.

Here's the link to the MS site for all builds after SQL 2008 SP1. Don't know why it deserves a separate KB number from the 956909 KB build list, but regardless here it is:

Hi Steve,
I am going to install SSMS 2008 on one of my Production Server this weekend. We already got SSMS 2000 installed.
About the SPK and Hotfix from Microsoft, shall I install SQL Server 2008 Standard Edition First, then install service pack 1 and then install 'Cumulative update package 3 for SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1' Article ID: 971491 at the end. Do you think that will be okay?
According from microsoft, I need to installed latest Hotfix and it will cover all the previous Hotfixes. Is that correct?
For Example .... I am not going to install 'Cumulative update package 1 and package 2' and install only package 3. Do you think it will cover all the hotfix including pkg1 and pkg2?
Thanks.
Leo

If you are installing SQL Server 2008 on the production server, I'd recommend you install Service Pack 1 for SQL Server 2008 and stop. The cumulative updates are not regression tested, and unless you have an issue that is fixed in a CU, I would not install them.

Steve,
Can you post a good procedure for slipstreaming SQL 2008 SP1?
Thanks!

I would use the link above. I don't have a procedure I've used. You can also search for FineBuild on Codeplex. Ed Vassie has built a great utility for slipping in multiple patches to the install.

we're still on 2005 but usually push the latest CU to QA and development as well as a few production servers that aren't critical. and once a year or so we'll upgrade production

is there any reason for the crazy MS system to get these updates where they send you an email with passwords and download links? any reason why they don't just have a download link like they do with the service packs?

There is some legal reason, but I don't buy it either. It's just for patches that aren't completely tested.
