we are running a build that I do not see on your list - now I've got to ask our Sys admin to get us up to SP1!Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (RTM) - 10.50.1617.0 (X64) Apr 22 2011 19:23:43 Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.0 <X64> (Build 6002: Service Pack 2) (Hypervisor)
That's the MS11-049 patch for the RTM build.

Quick question as Microsoft says one thing and the page says another (BTW, this is a great list and very helpful).
Microsoft put out on the SP1 KB that it includes CU1 through CU6. Do they go back and add CU7 and CU8 to it when they came out as well? I'm in the middle of test CU7 right now as I'm not "fast" to patch, but want to make sure that if I skip CU8, that the fixes that are included in it are in SP1.

Your article, SQL Server 2008 R2 Build List, shows "CU #8 for SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2" in the Description column but nothing is listed for the Build, KB Article, or URL columns. The Build is: 10.50.4290 The KB Article is: 2871401 And, the URL is: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2871401
And, yes, the "join discussion" link on that article still brings you to this thread.

Just looked at this... I missed the news that SP3 came out.... Looks like it was 4 days ago and includes the security patch as well.:-)

Anyone know if the QFE and GDR patches need to be installed "in order" or if the bigger build number includes the other update (a la a mini CU)?
Meaning, does the 10.00.6535 include the GDR update from 10.00.6241?
10.00.62413045311MS15-058 GDR Patch for SP4.
10.00.65353045308MS15-058 QFE Patch for SP4.
I don't necessarily have a problem getting these final updates pushed out, but if i write a check to make sure we are at 10.00.6535, and I only install 10.00.6535, would I effectively be missing out on the update provided in 10.00.6241?

My understanding is that you would either install the GDR or QFE, depending on where you were before this. If you look at the KB, it should guide you as to which is applicable for you.

Thanks Steve, will read through the KB. Would love to upgrade away from 2008, but we know how "easy" that can be :w00t:
