Hi,
What are the disadvantages of having SQL server 2008(instance) and SQL server 2005(instance) on the same box?
Like performance, resource usage,....

You can only have one Integration Services server and only one default server.

Is this production?
As mentioned if you want SSIS, it will be only one version. A couple other services are not instance aware.
Otherwise, same issues as any other multi instance box. It's possible that an 2008 patch could cause you issues with 2005, mostly with tools, and I'm not 100% sure this is well tested by MS.

Thanks Steve!
No, this is a dev box.
As we are short of hardware, we just wanted to run some test on same server [:)].
