hi,
would i be able to make 2005 work in the same machine that i have installed 2008. because right now i can only use 2008, 2005 opens and connects but when i select a table it gives me the error.

Yep. You're in trouble now. I still haven't been able to get it fixed. A friend ripped out everything, including all references in the registry, and reinstalled 2005. He's running 2008 on a virtual machine now, as am I.

I think you might be in trouble here. Likely you need to rebuild and stick with VMs for testing new versions.

Until SQL2008 is officially released I wouldn't let it near any existing boxes.
My approach with the CTPs is to completely wipe the box in between CTP releases.
Even after the launch I am unlikely to put two different versions of SQL on the same box.

If you want to use 2005 and 2008 on the same machine...
First install 2005 then install 2008...don't do it other way around...
