SQL Server 2005 + Windows 7 = IIS nightmare! Help!!!

  • Hi All,

I've tried every work around i can find on the net and still cant get SQL Server 2005 to detect that I have IIS installed on my machine, I have windows 7 Home Premium and IIS is installed, as a result I can't install reporting services! Ive tried unistalling/re-installing, restarting IIS in services.

If anyone can help i'd be really gratefull!!

    Cheers

    Gav

  • Did you install all updates for SQL Server 2005, make sure you install the latest Service Pack for the SQL Server 2005 (SP3).

You cannot install SSRS 2005 in any IIS without Windows authentication so if you are doing any work around that includes SSRS 2005 then it will not work the only known work around is to use SSRS 2008 with SQL Server 2005 like in the thread below.

That happened to me too I may have tried about five times before I remembered this posting by the Asp.net team and it worked. Here is the link make sure UAC is disabled and enable only the few things in the link below and it should work. Then you could add the other features later. If the configuration the link below did not work then try installing VS2008 any edition then run the installer because I have VS2008 running before I installed the SQL Server 2005 and it worked. Make sure everything you have enabled is removed before you enable only the few in the link below.

I did not ask you if you are in SP3 I want to know your Windows 7 edition which is the only thing that is relevant because I had SSR disabled a few times but it was resolved with the correct IIS7.5 features enabled.
