SQL Server 2005 Video Tutorials

  • Hi,

I'm wondering if any of you know of a free online series of SQL Server 2005 tutorials. I'm looking for very beginner/basic stuff like importing/exporting data, creating views, indexing, etc. I remember using one a couple years ago but I can't remember what site the videos were on. All that I can remember is that the videos had a yellow background with black text during the opening and closing credits. Any assistance?

    Thanks!

  • Check out www.jumpstarttv.com. This site has just re-focused and over the next month or so there will be many videos added that I think will be helpful to you. The newer videos on the site are typically under 5 minute specific How-To videos and there will be video series on using SSMS, SSIS, Query Tuning, Profiler, etc.... There are some older videos that are longer.

  • Another vote for jumpstarttv. I did a bunch of work for Andy on a series of videos introducing execution plan concepts. There are going to over 500 videos there by the end of the year.

  • I suppose I should mention that I also did some work for jumpstarttv as well, so there should be some videos coming from me there as well.

I actually don't know of another site either, but the disclaimer should be made.

BTW-I won't get paid by the hit so I won't get anything other than a little professional pride if the videos I did are popular. Well, I suppose I might get asked to do some more, but that's it.

  • Check youtube also, I've found some good vid's there about SQL SRV.

  • Most of our videos here are from Jumpstart, and I own part of the company.

Microsoft has a series of webcasts and screencasts as well on MSDN.

  • Nice site...is ideal for newbies...

I hope the videos will remain there...and they will be for free....like they are now.

There are some nice things on the internet but not often for free...

Very nice gesture from the dba's

  • We plan to keep them here and Jumpstart as well. Jumpstart runs on advertising as does this site, so that's the cost.

Nothing is for free, or almost nothing. It just doesn't work, or at least doesn't scale. Advertising is an important part of our world, but it doesn't have to be annoying with pop-ups, rollovers, etc.
