Hi,
I am running sql server 2005 on windows 2003 SP2
When I run the MSSQLSERVER, I do not see the sqlservr.exe in the task manager
Did I install the sql server 2005 incorrectly ?
Just wondering if that is normal ?
I have been trying to connect remotely but I am unable to do that
telnet 1433 never works for me and I am wondering if this is because the sqlservr.exe is not in the task manager
Thanks in advance

Are you able to see "SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER)" service in SCM, if yes then you have installed SQL 2005.
Are you able to connect to the server locally??
Which edition of SQL you have installed??

Yes
I am able to connect locally and on the local network but not remotely
I have all the requirements for connecting remotely in place. However, I am unable to telnet IP address 1433 from a machine outside of the local network
I have no firewall and the port is configured on the router, not sure what piece of the puzzle i am missing
Thanks in advance
