which is the best version of SQL Server 2005 to be installed in Windows Vista machine....It is for developer prospective...basically we were trying to install Enterprise edition but it is not supported in vista ?

No but you can install the Developer edition which is a no deployment Enterprise edition, Vista must be Vista Ultimate or Business if you want to install SSRS because IIS7 with Windows Authentication is required to install SSRS.

Not sure, I only use Server Editions of Operating Systems.
Think about it, you cannot do anything with Vista except development. So you could easily use Express flavor. You could use Development flavor as well. You can read the website from Microsoft and tell what OSs support what flavors

i installs well XP or Windows Server 2003 is better. The problem with XP sometimes u might not be able 2 depoly ur projects.
