SQL Server 2005 Dev Edition on XP-SP3

  • I had a XP - SP2 machine which the SQL SERVER 2005 Developer edition installed fine on. However,I recently got a new machine and had to give up the old. The issue is that the new machine came with XP-SP3 pre-installed from Dell. I tried to install the SS2005 but was unsuccessful. My IT support told me it is due to some of the MS security updates in SP3, which I cannot get around, since I cannot even remove the SP3.

    Any suggestions?

I am new to the site, and could not find any discussions on this... could be that I do not know how to work with the site.

    any guidance is much appreciated.

    Thanks.

  • This is a well know issue.

Try installing SQL Server in the same language of the Operating System - if still fails only solution would be to get a computer with SP2.
