Microsoft is in the process of releasing the Beta versions of the 2005 certification exams. Two of the exams that I received an invitation on are:
70-431 - Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - Implementation and Maintenance
70-441 - PRO: Designing Database Solutions by Using Microsoft SQL Server 2005
The preparation guides for both of these test show that all of the training material will become available starting in the spring of 2006.
Does anybody have any suggestions for how to prepare to take these tests prior to that time.
Thanks in Advance,
Rick

Hi Rick,
You can use the Microsoft e-learning courses which are free for the time being and are pretty good to start with.

And as always my favourite BOL 2005.
Cheers

Unfortunately though they will only be available until tomorrow, then they are removed. Just start using the product, and read through Books Online as much as possible. There are also some books published on the CTP versions already available.

I believe that I will be able to activate free 90 day licences on all of the SQL2005 courseware prior to the end of the free period.
Do you have any suggestions for books that are currently available?

Changing the Paradigm by Scalability Experts is one of the more recent books that gives an overview of SQL Server 2005. But I expect there will be (or are already) lots of books coming out with the final version now being ready.

The beta exams are scheduled for Nov/early Dec. From my own publishing experience, this would mean that the live exams should release in Jan/Feb and at that time everyone will finalize their books and publications will probably release on Mar/Apr.

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 : Changing the Paradigm is quite a good book I've found, anything else you've come across Rick?

As far as I know Microsoft E-Learning SQL 2005 is free til 1st of November 2006. So you would still have plenty of time.

Heh, heh, yeah I made the mistake of not looking at the year too.
71-444 is now available in Beta also, Optimizing and Maintaining a Database Administration Solution.

Try the MSDN library
I head the Recruiting for SQL Technologies within my company and have been trying to ramp up on the Yukon to ready myself for client requests. I've found that the Administrator's pocket book is out but the overall SQL 2005 book is not scheduled for release for a little while.
Here is another link within the MSDN site that covers SQL 2005 trainings available. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/2005/learning/training-courses.mspx.
Hope this helps. 🙂
