Hi All,
i want to ask that, is there any way to backup or export sql server 2005 database to txt or xls file? i need that file format because i would like to transfer mssql 2005 database to mysql database.

you can not run a 'backup' to excel but you certainly can export a table to excel. If you click on a database and select export data then you can go through the export wizard to export all tables at once.

do i have to backup database bak format? is there any way to bakup database different from bak format??

as far as I know bak is the only format that is native to SQL processes for the Backup process. There are several third party programs that do backups and they may use some additional format.
from a native process however there is only a single format.
