Hi there - can any experts shed some light on the following please.
Currently have SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services running on a machine (Windows 2003 Server Std Edition) with various cubes created. Was attempting to backup a particular cube and when the backup ran it only greated a 20kb file. Was expecting a much larger file size.
Upon checking the server event logs I noticed the following errors....
#1 - Errors in the metadata manager. An error occurred when loading the KPMG Warehouse datasource, from the file, '\\?\D:\Database\SSAS\Data\KPMG_BIG.7.db\KPMG Warehouse.6.ds.xml'.
#2 - Errors in the metadata manager. An error occurred when instantiating a metadata object from the file, '\\?\D:\Database\SSAS\Data\KPMG_BIG.7.db\KPMG Warehouse.6.ds.xml'.
#3 - Errors in the metadata manager. An error occurred when loading the KPMG Warehouse data source view, from the file, '\\?\D:\Database\SSAS\Data\KPMG_BIG.7.db\KPMG Warehouse.7.dsv.xml'.
#4 - Errors in the metadata manager. An error occurred when instantiating a metadata object from the file, '\\?\D:\Database\SSAS\Data\KPMG_BIG.7.db\KPMG Warehouse.7.dsv.xml'.
If you try and process the cube you get the error:
The database cryptographic key could not be loaded: \\?\D:\Database\SSAS\Data\KPMG_BIG.7.db\0.CryptKey.bin
Have seen similar errors re encryption keys in Reporting Services where service accounts have been changed but not in Analysis Services.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

Not sure if you've looked at these but following are a few suggestions as to how to fix the issue.
One recurring them appears to be this is caused when restoring an SP2 DB to a non SP2 SSAS instance.
HTH,
Steve.
