did you install MSDE ? use SQL2000.MSDE-KB884525-SP4-x86-ENU.EXE
or did you install a personal edition ? use SQL2000-KB884525-SP4-x86-ENU.EXE
or did you install only client components ? use SQL2000-KB884525-SP4-x86-ENU.EXE
and do you also have Analysis server installed ? also install SQL2000.AS-KB884525-SP4-x86-ENU.EXE

Hi,
you need to download this:
SQL2000-KB884525-SP4-x86-ENU.EXE 66.9 MB
Just another tip after installing SP4 try to get the latest Hotfix and apply it also.
Have fun.

before reading your post , i downloaded SQL2000.MSDE-KB884525-SP4-x86-ENU.EXE
and it did nothing.

the reason i want it is , i am getting an error
"Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection"
i am already in the mixed mode (SQL Server authentication mode) and using id/pass as "sa" and "sa" for my developement.
i read in the net that may be i need to add service pack/patch .......this could remove the error .
what do you think ?

i am connecting it via WEbsphere and getting that error in the websphere server console.

you only need the hotfix to sp4 if you are running a machine with 4 GB RAM or more and have AWE turned on in OS and DB. Otherwise, the hotfix is not required.

it is highly unlikely that SP 4 will fix that problem. Of course, if you are not already at 3 or 3a, you should be patching; but your error is probably something else.

I cannot tell from this post what version you actually have... someone else responded with an answer; but it looks like you downloaded something else, which did nothing. What version of SQL Server 2000 are you running, and what operating system are you using?
Thank-you,

he guessed. you say it worked perfectly.
did it solve your trusted connection problem?
If so, was the problem still present right before installed the service pack?
Thank-you,
David Russell
