Hi,
I have SQL server 2000 Enterprise edition SP4 32- bit
OS:Windows server 2003 Enterprise Edition 32 bit
I have 12 GB RAM, how much memory can i allocate to the SQL server.?
I believe SQL server 2000 can utilize upto 4 GB only.

With the use of the AWE enable option, SQL Server 2000 can use up to 4 GB of physical memory.

I think Chris means with the use of AWE SQL2000 enterprise can use above the 4Gb line. With that set up I would allocate up to 10GB to SQL (leave the rest for OS) and set /PAE and /3GB in the boot.ini

With Windows Server 2003 using /PAE and AWE you can address up to 64GB of RAM. I would say at least 2-3GB would be needed for the OS leaving whatever is left for SQL. Note though that anything above 4GB will only be available to the buffer pool in SQL.
