Hi All,
Well I am having a problem related to the Network jamming or congestion due to SQL Server. After one hour or two of starting sql server services. The Computer's CPU reaches to 100% Usage and SQL Server starts sending data continuously to LAN resulting in Network Blocking.
Please tell me what can I do to avoid this problem.
Best Regards.
Junaid.

A couple of questions: Has anyone looked at the network traffic? Is the SQL Server an internal server or does it face the Internet?

Brian,
Thanks for your reply. Well It is related to the SQL Server I researched and found that there is a worm named 'Slammer' that causes this and Microsoft has given a Service Pack 3 for this. I have tried this and now it is smooth. I am new to SQL Server and find that there will be virus threats for the databases too as I heard those for OS only. But It is not a case with Oracle I mean the viruses. So one has to update security patches all the time for the sql server.
Thanks for your cooperation,
regards,
Junaid.

SQL Slammer is a nasty worm, indeed. You'll find that while the OS gets patched fairly regularly, SQL Server doesn't have a whole lot of patches in comparison. BTW, Oracle has the same sorts of issues with buffer overflows and the like, however no one has coded a major worm against Oracle as of yet. To keep abreast of security issues with SQL Server, there are a few sites:
