SQL Server 2000 Log Shipping, Does not move the TRN file to the destination server

  • Hi all, Please help, I set up Log Shipping and everything seems to be set up correctly, no errors on the set up, but when it is time to move the TRN file to the secondary server, it does NOTHING. I look at the share, and i can move my self files with no problems, but it seems that the process itself does not start moving the TRN files.

From all the jobs that creates, all of them says 'successful' but no files are moved, any hints, ideas, or advices, I am at the end of mu rope...... DESPERATE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Double-check the Windows event logs on both servers. How long did you specify to keep the trn files? I'd check permissions on the shared log shipping folder, as well as double-checking that the SQL Server Agent is running and all log shipping jobs on both servers are set to Enabled and have a schedule.

Also, what happens if you run the jobs manually? Does that give you any more information?

And what is the state of your log shipped database? It may still be in the restoring process from the first log ship.

My rule #1 for log shipping: Be patient!

  • Thanks, it is working now, I was so confused that I had the destination engine service with a different ID.

    Thanks a lot
