Hi,
I am trying to install SS2000 SP2 on Windows 2003 SP2. I get following alert:
the driver software you are installing has not been properly signed with athenticated technology. Therefore Windows cannot tell if the software has been modified since it was published. The publisher identity cannot be verified because of a problem:
The Parameter is incorrect.
Do you still want to install the driver software? (yes or no)[/i][/b]
I get this error right after the installation begins.
Also, we I begin the installation, I get following message:
SQL Server 2000 SP2 and below
SQL Server 2000 SP2 and below is not supported by this version of Windows. To run the program, click continue. For more information, click Details.[/b]
This is what microsoft recommends:
To work around this behavior, install SQL Server 2000 SP3 or later immediately after you install SQL Server 2000. For more detailed installation information, see the “More Information” section in this article.

If I go by the solution, the installation should first finish successfully. But my problem is that I am stuck at the scurity alert messages. I click 'Yes' to install the drivers and I keep getting the same message a hundred times. And then I get message "Error installing SS2000...."
Any idea?

Is it requisite that you install SQL 2000?
-OR-
Will SQL 2005 work for you?
If you are licensed for SQL 2005, I would install that.

it is a requirement of a project.
IMHO, the project should be revised. SQL2000 is 10 yrs old and only supported through Extended Support agreements.
With SQL 2005 you could leave the database in SQL 2000 compatibility mode. Just an option.
As per your errors - please post the exact errors for the devices involved.

Unfortunately, it is an old project and the application cannot not be upgraded to support SS2005 for time being. May be in future. Therefore I need to setup this server with SS2000.
I did some more research and found out this in the installation log....
Starting Service ...
SQL_Latin1_General_Pref_CP850_CI_AS
-m -Q -T4022 -T3659
Connecting to Server ...
driver={sql server};server=SOSQLPARS01;UID=sa;PWD=;database=master
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified
driver={sql server};server=SOSQLPARS01;UID=sa;PWD=;database=master

driver={sql server};server=SOSQLPARS01;UID=sa;PWD=;database=master
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified
SQL Server configuration failed.
Some where I read that I need to run following in Start->Run->C:\Windows\system32\odbcad32.exe
I did that and still the same error.

OK stepping back a bit. Are you running 64 bit OS and installing 32 bit SQL Server?
