SQL Server 2000 Installation Issue

    Hello Everyone,

    I've been using SQL Server for awhile now, but have never needed to install it before. I've installed it on a new machine and all of tools work as expected. The issue that has me stumped is when I attempt to create a new DTS Package. I need a package that imports data from text files into SQL Server database tables. I can open the DTS package designer, but cannot create the SQL Server connection (Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server). The message I receive is "No provider exists for this connection on this computer". When I click OK, I see the standard prompt for setting up the database connection, but after filling out the details and clicking OK I get "Invalid Class String" error. I'm running off of the local machine, if that makes a difference.

    I've run out of ideas here and would really appreciate some help. Thank you.

    Interesting!

    Is this on the server or when using EM from a client PC?  Either way, what login are you using in the registration properties and what permissions does it have?

    Can you create any other objects out of curiosity?

    Thank you for the response.

    I'm on a client machine. It turns out that the version given to me was the Standard Edition as opposed to the Developer Edition. Because of this the Client Connectivity did not install which prevents my machine from being a server. Creating the databases was fine, but the SQL Server OLE DB connection just was not available to me.
