  I am trying to install SQL Server 2000 on a PC with Windows 2000 installed. The PC is at the momment connected to the network. The PC is a pentium 4. I am installing it as a local Administrator. But I keep getting the error "Installing Microsoft Data Access Components packages failed (-1)." Please help

  Take a look at the install log files, this may help you identity the problem.

  Also if you run out of ideas you could try and install mdac separately. Then once that is installed install sql again.
