SQL server 2000 Backup issue

  I have a 165GB database on a SQL server 2000.  Backup was taking about 2.5 hours but since last few days it is taking 15 to 20 hours.  We feel it is disk problem but Wintel team feels everything is fine and there are no errors.  What could be reason for this problem?  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  Check if some other job is running at the same time when backup is running, because this may hold backup operation till it gets completed.

   

  Backup job comes under DB maintenance category there fore it is given least priority when it come against any other schedule job.
