hello everybody,
i 'm running sql server 2000 sp4 on w2003 server.
Has anybody faces performance problems?? Is it better to use w2000 server instead of w2003 server?
My sql server stop responding without error messages for a while and again and again.
Thanks Nick

SQL Server 2000 should run just fine on Win2k3.
Do you have any more information regarding the configuration of the server. Is there nothing all in the errorlog?

Are you trying to take advantage of AWE memory?

W2003 supports more memory ( enterprise edition 32gb ) it also supports hyperthreading correctly and will allow 8 HT procs on enterprise ( total 16 procs )
I've not had any probs with sp4 but note you need a patch if you're running awe.

I was asking in reference to the patch for sp4.

You need an additional patch if you're using awe - only problems are if you don't apply the patch.
