SQL Server 12-ADO-Native Client 11

  • I am new to SQL Server, but have managed to successfully use VB (ADO) and Native Client 11 to communicate with SQL Server 12. I have also used ODBC (DSN and DSN-less), but it appears that ADO is more flexible.

    Any ideas appreciated.

  • Not sure what the question is, but it seems you're right, ADO.NET and the native client are more flexible.

Just a sidenote: the OLE DB provider is deprecated since the release of SQL Server 2012:

  • Many thanks for the reply.

I need to use Access (not .NET) as the front end and had a general question about ADO and Native Client. As time goes by, I will be back wiht more questions.
