Hi Forum,
When we want to restage our log shipping process, we take a backup to tape of our PRD database and then restore the BAK file to the DR machine.
We then perform a SQL restore choosing the "into standby mode" option. This restore piece takes over 12 hours to complete and is by far the slowest part of our entire restaging process. We have fairly fast machines and are on SQL 2005.
Do any of you have any tips as to how we can make this part of the restaging process faster?
Any ideas welcome.
Thanks,
Ben

Thanks for your reply Perry but the issue is not with the tape, that is fine.
The issue occurs when the BAK file is restored into the database.
