Hi All
OK first post on this forum so just want to say hello to everyone!
OK first problem off the bat, I am a relative Newbie to SQL 2000 and 2005. I have been using it for about 3 years but have only recently got heavily involved and interested in it. I learning loads day by day by reading Forums and studying for my MCITP in SQL but still am quite new to it all.
I have a problem on one of my companies production systems where every now and the my Trans replication on SQL 2000 fails due to in a Row discrepancy in a certain table. This happens randomly, so I have done two things, I have now setup a distribution server as a separate system to try and help with load. Also I have now setup SQL Mail on the Distribution server to warm me when replication fails.
However, I have just checked my email to find it has failed but I can't work out what is making it fail. Is there a way to have SQL Mail give me more detail and show me the Table affected so I can start to track down the problem??
All 3 servers are SQL 2000 (Publisher, Distributer and Subscriber)
All Running on a 1 Gig Backbone
If I have missed out useful information I apologies and will post more up if need be?
Many Thanks
(Also a side note, but does anyone use SMS alerting for there SQL Problems, and if so can anyone recommend a useful tool?)

Keir,
there are loads of reasons why SQL mail is not working properly and without more details it's almost impossible to tell what is wrong in your case.
But here you find a article with the most common problems and how to solve them.
Another good source is this article.

Hi MarkusB
Thanks for replying, sorry the SQL Mail itself is working! The problem is that when replication fails it tells me which is great, but I dont know what table has made it fail or what row of data in the tables is different?
I was just wondering if there was a way to have the SQL Mail output more information to help me diagnose the problem?
Many Thanks
Keir

Hi,
The email thing is good.
But have you looked at the replication monitor to see if there are any errors appearing in any of the agents?...I would concentrate on that before the email problem.
