  I'm using some SQL at work, very high level stuff, basic querries, inserts, updates, deletes. I want to bulk up my skill set.

  Does anyone suggest a good book to read with step-by-step tutorials, and maybe a demo copy of SQL with an example database included?

  Any suggestions on authors that are interesting to read?
