I've installed Sql Personal Edition 2000 on my XP laptop and it installs without a hitch however, when I try to apply SPK3a to update, it will not update to the latest version. It remains @ its current 7.0. Any bright ideas out there ? |

Are you sure it's SQL Server 2000?
Here is a list of SQL Server versions. To be on SQL 2K you should at least see something like 8.00xx

Frank, I was wondering the same thing however, this Personal Edition 2000 is on the cd that came with my purchase of SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition. After I installed the software it says, " SQL 2000 has finished installing". This is weird. |

What's the response that you get from a select @@version

I found the problem. It was an earlier version of MSDE that was not allowing the SPK3a installation to see the SQL2K install. MSDE was apparently 7.xx ver. It's all straight. Thanks! |
