I just applied Win 2K SP4 to one of our servers. Then I applied all appropriate patches shown in Windows Update. But what about Sql patches? Is there any mechanism I can use to check what Sql patches are installed and which ones are missing?
TIA,
Bill

To my understanding, we do not have an automated tool for SQL Server similar to Windows Update. I would normally goto the the following web link and check the latest whenever I need to install on a new server. Then check SQLServerCentral.com forums, if anyone had any problems with the latest servicepacks & workarounds. Then install.

Not sure about the automatic process but you can check the sp with select @@version in QA.

Check Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer v1.1.1 at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9a88e63b-92e3-4f97-80e7-8bc9ff836742&DisplayLang=en
The latest service pack is sp3a and security patch is ms03-031.
