SQL Optimizations Job

  • A few cases where Optimizations Job ran for hours into the normal work day, taking up 100% of the CPU.  Trouble-shooting that is a task in itself, but is there any danger to stopping the job?  Fortunately I have not had to do any type of reboot, end task, etc., but I would like to be prepared with consequences if anything should arise.

    Thank you

  • It shouldn't be a danger, although I'm not sure it will stop before it finishes the task it's on. It might rollback it's changes if you stop it, but it shouldn't harm the server.
